At The Shot Shop, we know how important it is for you to look and feel your best, and that often starts with a consultation. But where do you start? Whether you’re concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, or volume loss, you’ve likely heard of Botox, also known as neurotoxin, as there are many brands available, as there are injectable fillers. These are two of the most popular aesthetic treatments available. But what’s the difference between these two options, and how do you know which one is right for you? Let’s break it down.

What is Neurotoxin, most commonly referred to as Botox?
Botox, just one of the brands we use at The Shot Shop, is a type of neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. These are the lines that form when you make facial expressions, like crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, or forehead lines. By relaxing these muscles, neurotoxin smooths out the overlying skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. In addition to BOTOX Cosmetic, we also use the neurotoxins called Jeuveau, Daxxify, and Xeomin. Think of it like Coke/Pespsi… very similar but a bit different. To know the true differences, ask your provider at The Shot Shop.

When to Choose a Neurotoxin such as Botox or Jeuveau:
– To treat expression lines, such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines
– To soften wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements
– For a quick, minimally invasive treatment with little to no downtime
– Results that last about 3 to 4 months

What Are Injectable Fillers?
Injectable fillers, also known as dermal fillers, are substances that add volume beneath the skin. Unlike Botox, which relaxes muscles, fillers address static wrinkles and areas where the skin has lost volume, such as under-eye hollows, sunken cheeks, or thinning lips. Common fillers like hyaluronic acid  (Juvederm, RHA, Restylane) attract water to the area using Hyaluronic Acid, plumping up the skin and restoring a youthful appearance.

When to Choose Fillers:
– To restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks, lips, or under the eyes
– To smooth out static wrinkles (those that remain even when your face is at rest)
– To enhance or reshape facial features, like lip augmentation or defining cheekbones
– Results that can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the product

Which Treatment is Right for You?
The key difference between neurotoxin and fillers lies in the type of wrinkles or concerns they treat. Neurotoxin is ideal for smoothing out dynamic wrinkles, while fillers work best for addressing volume loss and static wrinkles. In many cases, patients find that a combination of both treatments provides the best results, giving them a smooth, youthful appearance.
